Buna-N (Nitrile) X-rings, also known as Quad-rings, are a type of sealing element designed to provide superior sealing performance in dynamic applications. These rings have a unique square cross-section with four contact points, offering better sealing efficiency and lower friction compared to traditional O-rings. Made from a synthetic rubber copolymer of acrylonitrile (ACN) and butadiene, Buna-N X-rings offer excellent resistance to oils, fuels, and a variety of chemicals, making them ideal for a wide range of industrial, automotive, and aerospace applications.

Buna-N X-Ring Recommended Uses

Seals and gaskets in hydraulic systems, automotive fuel systems, industrial machinery, high-pressure applications, dynamic sealing applications, and rotary sealing applications.

Buna-N X-Ring Not Recommended

Brake fluid, ozone, UV exposure, phosphate esters, chlorinated hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, ketones, strong acids, atmospheric aging.

Buna-N X-Ring Limitations

  • Not suitable for ozone, sunlight, or weathering exposure.
  • Limited performance in high-temperature environments.
  • Not ideal for strong acids and alkalis.
  • Not recommended for applications requiring low compression set.
Buna-N X-Ring Usable Temperature Range

-30 to 250°F (-34 to 121°C)

Buna-N X-Ring Also Known As
